Dear Lynn,
I would like to THANK YOU for writing this book. I have not read a book in many years. I heard your 2 interviews on WGNRadio. The first interview you got me wanting to read the book but I forgot both your name and the title. But the 2nd interview I wrote your information down. I got lucky and purchased the last book. I really enjoyed reading it. Obviously that day was tragic , but reading about what was happening in the sky other than the hijackings made much more of an impact on me. Coincidently I was reading your book over the anniversary date. I was watching some of the TV documentaries and it just seemed to bring me alittle closer since I was able to relate more. I feel as you said that this book needed to be written. It made this tragedy seem fresh again rather than 7yrs ago.
Thank You again

Lynn,
I've just completed 'Touching History', your remarkable book about what transpired in our air space on 9/11. Throughout the book I kept saying to myself, this reads like some unbelievable novel but it's all true! I come away from the book wondering how well any other country in the world would have responded to such unimaginable horror. My hat is really off to the amazing risk takers and their creativity in getting 'er done that day!
Thanks for a great read that I'm already blabbing about to my cohorts!
Best regards,

Lynn,
Thanks for writing this book. For the past 7 years I have been trying to convince people that I talk to of the head's up actions and pure and simple heroism of ATC, commercial and military pilots and all the other people involved in the unfortunate events of the 9/11 skies. The rest of us were merely observers, these people lived it - in their face, and you have successfully brought this to a point where America can understand it.
I will make sure that many people know about your book, and will put it in a place of honor on my bookshelf next to Nathan Fick's account of being a Marine in Iraq - "One Bullet Away". You should read his book if you get a chance - you both have figured out how to relate complex topics to the average person.
Again, thanks.

Dear Ms. Spencer:
I just finished reading TOUCHING HISTORY. I checked out the book at my local library (Newport Beach, CA) after hearing a recent radio interview you did with Dennis Prager on 6/25/08. Thank you SO much for your dedication in pulling all of this together. My oldest son is a Marine and served in Iraq from April through October 2003. I thought I had reached the full measure of my appreciation for the military (and, by extension, other "first responders") ... your book made me realize how much more pride and admiration I still have!
I hope this modest e-mail might provide a small measure of encouragement and empirical evidence that what you've done was/is so necessary and a blessing to your fellow countrymen.
Sincerely,

I read your book and was captivated from front to back.
I know a little something about the events of that terrifying day and the content of your book is probably the most accurate account of the events as I came to know them myself.
The perspective from which you wrote your book has allowed key individuals to be acknowledged for their efforts while some of those same people were not even recognized by their own unit and organization. Such is the 'politics' of September 11th.
While no written words could ever truly bring us back to the very moments and emotions of that very dark day in American History, your book has given new perspective to the events of the day, giving credit where credit is due and exposing a truth that the American people deserved to know about. Your book demonstrates a very human side of tragedy and the bravery of those who rose to the occasion when many 'in charge' found themselves incapable of handling the pressure or completely incompetent to properly delegate. I read your book from the perspective of those who were never mentioned in the 9/11 report (amidst all of the finger pointing) and saw that this book was for those who perished that day and for those who rose to occasion, no matter the personal or professional cost.
Thank You for writing this book and giving the time and attention that everyone deserves.

Dear Ms. Spencer,
I finished reading your book and I want to say thank you for writing this book. As an amateur 9/11 historian, the communications between the pilots, the FAA, the Military and each other, has been a topic I have wanted to see covered. People do not realize what went on outside of what they have seen on television. The men and women who you write about are just as heroic as the firefighters and police officers who were at the scene. People like Ben Sliney, Robert Marr, the pilots out of Otis and Langely (Fargo's own Happy Hooligans).
This is one of the best books I have read on 9/11.
Sincerely,
MS
